Use the following table to determine the Age Division for the athlete.

Note: High School (HS) teams are typically comprised of 18U and 16U players.

Jr Kraken 10U and 12U Programs

The goals of our Jr Kraken program is for it to be a well balanced, co-ed swimming program that introduces athletes to the great sport of water polo. With a focus on basic fundamentals and team play, this program will allow your child to gain confidence in the water all while learning about a fast-paced sport in a fun and engaging program.

What is included?

  • All coaching and training

  • for 10U: 2 x 60 min practices a week (Thursdays and Saturdays) focused more on Learn to Swim

  • for 12U: 1 x 60 min practice and 1x 90 min practice a week (Thursdays Saturdays)

What is extra?

  • Tournaments locally and around the Province

  • Equipment (bathing suit, goggles, water bottle etc)

 

Note: Strong individuals in these age divisions may be considered for the club’s 14U Competitive program. We recommend they try 11U first, to see if they like Water Polo, before incurring the expense of our Competitive program. Approval of a senior coach is required. If you would like to inquire about having your athlete try out for our 14U Competitive program, send an email to info@kwwaterpolo.com to discuss further.

14U Competitive Program

What: New for 2024/2025 the 14U age group is split to gender specific teams.  This program is for individuals who have taken some swimming lessons and can easily swim the length of the pool. Especially appealing to those who have done another water sport such as competitive swimming or synchronized swimming. Athletes will learn about the game of Water Polo in a more competitive environment. They will develop passing, ball handling, shooting and mobility skills while continuing to improve fitness and swimming.

  • 4 to 6 tournaments or game days per season
  • Multiple venues are used. Refer to the Schedule for locations and time


16U Competitive Programs

What: These gender specific programs are for individuals who can easily swim 2 lengths of the pool (50 m) and who love water sports and are ready for an exciting team sport. They can swim front crawl, back crawl and breast stroke and are adept at egg-beater. Our 16U Program trains to compete in Regional, Provincial and National championships and tournaments. Fitness and swimming are major factors. Players will develop strong passing, shooting and mobility skills while gaining game sense.

  • 6 to 8 tournaments or game days per season
  • Multiple venues are used. Refer to the Schedule for locations and time


18U and High School (HS) Boys and Girls – Competitive Programs

What: These gender specific programs are ideal for individuals who are very strong swimmers, have competitive experience, who love water sports and are ready for an exciting team sport. They can swim front crawl, back crawl and breast stroke and can use egg-beater effectively. Our 18U Program trains to compete in Regional, Provincial and National championships and tournaments. Fitness and swimming are major factors. Players will continue to develop strong passing, shooting and mobility skills while gaining game sense.

  • 16U and 18U gender specific teams may practice and play together as part of a High School (HS) team
  • 15U players may be invited to play up if skill and interest support this opportunity
  • 8 to 10 tournaments or game days per season
  • Multiple venues are used. Refer to the Schedule for locations and time


18U and High School (HS) Boys and Girls – Recreational Programs

What: These gender specific programs are ideal for individuals who are very strong swimmers, who love water sports and are looking for a way to stay fit and have fun. They can swim front crawl, back crawl and breast stroke and can use egg-beater effectively. Our 18U Recreational Program focuses on fitness and swimming and practices in partnership with our competitive players. Players will continue to develop strong passing, shooting and mobility skills while gaining game sense.

Details: 

  • Season runs from September to June
  • Practices are twice a week
  • Players are welcome to attend our senior practice for opportunities to scrimmage with other players

Senior Programs

What: Recreational program to facilitate player development and healthy competition.

Details: 

  • Fall Season starts on October 1st, ends on December 17th. Winter Season dates TBD.
